CAMBRIDGE

Dire Literary Series One Friday (usually the first of) each month,  8pm, 106 Prospect St.,  Central Sq. Hosted by the never-dull Timothy Gager.  Check site for details.  (I think it’s $5 cover, but worth it–and I’m a cheapskate when it comes to cover charges.)  One of the few venues for both poetry and  fiction! Feature(s) and open mic.

Stone Soup Poetry Mondays, 8-10p.m. 106 Prospect St., Central Sq.  Get there at 7:30 if ya wanna sign up for the most famous, longest running open mic in MA.  Hosted by Chad Parenteau.

[T directions: Red-Line to Central. On the corner of Mass Ave and Prospect (Starbucks on your right), take a right onto Prospect, walk a few blocks past a red-faced bar and Carberry's. The very blue and very funky Out of the Blue art gallery is the place.]

The Art of Words: Mike Amado Memorial Series. Host: Jack Scully  [Features plus one of the most truly-diverse open mics in MA: spoken word, poetry, fiction, music, etc. Mike was a beloved friend in poetry circles in MA. PS Plymouth is gorgeous!]

Doors open @ 12:30, Program begins @ 1:00, Open Mic @ 2:00.
